Why this photoblog

Fun. Nothing serious. Not too big a commitment. Traveling light.

My last photoblog, f-stopMarin was a two-year long project. I tried posting a photo each day within the boundaries of Marin County, just north of San Francisco. I used my Canon 30D or 5DMarkII and multiple lenses for most of the images. Carrying heavy equipment wherever I went and the self-imposed pressure to post daily started to feel a lot more like work than fun.

In October 2009, I moved to the East Bay and ended f-stopMarin. I was relieved to take a photoblog break. Moving, adopting a puppy, and making a living had been keeping me busy.

But I started to miss the challenges and satisfaction of photoblogging. I always have my iPhone tucked in my pocket or in a small purse and have enjoyed looking at my world through the iPhone lens. I'm often amazed by the fundamental and nostalgic qualities of iPhone images and enjoy the creative capabilities of the few iphone photo applications I use: Camera Bag; Best Camera; Hipstamatic; DXP, a multiexposure application; Diptic; and Instagram. (I'll add to this list and welcome your suggestions of others.)

This blog has no boundaries, editorial or geographic. No pressure to post each day.

I hope you and I enjoy my new blog, iPhone Photo Fun.
